Work, work, Pub, Pokemon and work again

Welcome to Leicester Sound! (Read with Leicester accent.)
Here is the long due update from Leicester.

Tuesday was a very peaceful day. I had only 1 lesson to teach so I decided to organise some paperwork and to make some appointments to observe some interesting classes. As a result I will observe photography and applied business next week. I did however helped Vicky (or Victoria) with her English class. She lost her voice so I had to be the voice of teaching and reason. The rest of the day was interesting. I got a phone call from Kristel which brought me kind of up to speed with the things home. The rest of the day was working for school. The main reason why I haven't updated my blog yet. Sorry for that.

Wednesday was another slow day. Only 2 hours to teach. Today I had to teach Business with Natalia which proved to be loads of fun. Not only was the class nice and really fine (;-)) but it was interesting to interact with an A-level group. English was nice too, I am getting used to this group and their lively ways. In the evening Stef arrived. That was loads off for Ann because she really missed him (like the other girls miss their boyfriends). I really got to know him better these past few days and appreciated him more than before. It was nice to have someone new in the group even if it was for a few days.

Thursday was a very busy day in terms of teaching. I had 4 hours of teaching. I had my first lesson alone. The same business group as yesterday. It was really tough this time because they were a bit passive at first and later on they became really active. Quite the change.

I also joined in with a PE lesson. We had rugby that day. I never thought I could love a game so much. It was exiting and I tried to go all in. I even tried to tackle Natalia and Stef. At first I was a bit reluctant to tackle Natalia because I was afraid to hurt hur in any way. I did not know the proper technique yet so that could be dangerous. A bit later I dropped all the inhibitions and just went for it. It turned out as a really good time.

We had a lesson of History the same day which was quite nice and PSCHE (soort stagebegeleiding) which was really fun to co-teach. Marion is a very strict but interesting teacher and it was a whole experience just being in one class room with her.

During that evening Stefs parents dropped in for dinner so we did not work but we had a very big dinner, loads of laughs and we ended the day with a hilarious game called Jungle Speed (something we discovered the day before).

Friday was another busy day. I had to teach French which I eventually liked. The group was nice, the system was not too difficult and my French was sufficient. I had some other lessons, also English were I saw my lovely group again, and at the end I had to try and figure out ICT again. Peter even asked us to observe, which turned out in helping him teach and controlling the students. We got the hint so we are going to offer him our services for next Friday.

During the evening we went to the performing arts festival at Groby College. Due to the bad weather before we came the festival (or parts of it) got posponed to a later date. This was one of these days. It was lovely, a lot of talent, covers and own compositions. The only bad thing was that one (maybe two) men/young boys ran backstage, came out behind the corner and showed their bare bum during a performance. The girl who was singing at the time was broken afterwards. She was great but it is sad this had to happen.

Later that same evening (after a small pitstop in Desford) we went to Leicester city, Braunston Gate, to go out. We promised Sophie to come. She took us to Sumo, a club which was too crowded, overstaffed and too noisy, and thus we went on, after 2 hours, to another place. A pub this time, quite nice but it closed 40 minutes after we arrived. We still went for a kebab afterwards but that was a huge mistake. My stomach was going to suffer all night and Saturday morning.

On Saturday I was the only one awake. I decided to go to Leicester to play a tournament. It was really nice and I became third of the 12 people present. The only game I lost was on time. Here is a small report:

Round 1: Fraser with a Gyarodos deck
First game: I opened with Abomasnow quickly and tried to keep the heat on with Below Zero (due to the fact that he played only grass and water). I then got out the Dusknoir (with the poke-body) to finish the job.
Second game: Exactly the same setup as in the first game except I used the Dusknoir with the power to finish things off.
1-0

Round 2: Craig with a magmortar starter deck
This man only has 2 days of playing experience so I decided to cut him some slack and give him a few prizes. He was a really nice man and he liked the fact that I did not just wipe him of the planet with my deck and 9 years experience.
First game: I open with Snover vs a fire pokemon but I can use call energy + luxery ball to set up and I win.
Second game: I open with the body dusknoir (rare candy) and an uxie. I Uxie - Dusknoir body combo him for the win.
2-0

Round 3: Freddy K. (yes indeed) with a gardevoir deck
Round 1: I opened with a unown Q he with shining duskull. He got to start. I lost the first game.
Round 2: At first he was really dominant with his Gallade, that he used to kill my abomasnow, and I had to play on my Uxies and their attack to get some damage done. The combination of the Uxie and my Dusknoir helped a lot. At a certain point he only had a Dusknoir (DP1), Claydoll and a weavile in play. Thanks to creative play from my part I was able to tward some plans of him and take some prizes at the same time. I was taking over the game step by step and it was 2 -2 in prizes and my turn when they called time. I couldn't take a prize that turn so he won but I asked to finish the game. Eventually I won because he could only take 1 extra prize but he had no options left to take another while I had multiple options left to take my last prize.
2-1

I personally think this to be a moral victory for me and a bit of proof that even when you haven't played for 4 weeks (and as a result you do make some stupid mistakes) you are still able to win some very significant games.

Endresult was third place and a booster pack for me. I was really happy though.

I had a long talk with Freddy afterwards and got to know him better. He and Kirsty, someone else I met, invited me to come over next week Saturday, which I might do.
The rest of Saturday was a bit exiting. We had a food search, grumpy women and the High school musical DVD. In the end I was happy to go to bed.

Sunday was a very weird day. I woke up and did some housework. We were invited by Molly and Dave to go to the Lancaster Arms were we had Sunday dinner (at half past twelve). It was lovely. Dan was there and we had loads of laughs. He was still enjoying the birthday present he got from us the day before. For the rest of the day we worked. Ann and I worked on ICT, we watched a dreadful long and boring (excluding the first 15 minutes) movie for History and I took a long and relaxing bath.

The rest of the night will be dominated by the competition between me and Tanja. Who will read out Twilight first. It is a nice way to read a book.

Signing off and I promise that I will post tomorrow.

Kisses

Timmy
